Even though women have made tremendous strides in all areas of the workforce, men are still the majority when it comes to leadership. Dentistry is no exception, where women are woefully underrepresented in leadership, academically and professionally. The reason for this? In general, some women are still expected to pull most of the weight at home, which makes advancing their careers more challenging. Some women may be more reluctant to do so because they take on more of the home and family responsibilities. Additionally, mentorship opportunities may not be as abundant for women as they are for men.

Our Interventions

Helping women find their voice
is deeply empowering

AWF is to coordinate the activities of the national groups; promote the collection of information about women dentists and their patterns of working; address inequalities where they exist; it also facilitate contacts between women worldwide and enhance their full participation in all branches of the profession.
If Athena will provide a such platform to women then they might brought a new level of compassion to dentistry. Women in the industry are also motivated to work together and build each other up

Above all else, the AWF is a great place to see old friends, meet new colleagues and forge friendships with mentors from around the world.
